Laced with ambiguity and visual allegories Blattner's paintings interrogate cricket’s colonial past and the impact it has in defining Australia’s cultural characteristics and masculine ethos. Contrived Circumstances reflects on the presumed societal tension between sport and art – mixing the seemingly cultured with the seemingly uncultured....
