BARS ULTIMO

Built in 1881, the hotel was renovated in 1996 to provide extra accommodation and a new Restaurant was opened. The hotel offers casual and relaxed accommodation with rooftop views of Ultimo and Pyrmont and only a stones throw from Sydney's beautiful Darling Harbour.

The area is steeped in the history of early settlement. The Harris family were the dominant landowners in the area for over 100 years and a nearby street bears their name.

The Ivory Lounge trades as a cafe/restaurant, serving top quality breakfast and lunch at very reasonable prices 5 days a week. In the evenings the Lounge comes alive with various events including Latin dance nights, corporate functions, birthday parties, exhibitions, cocktail parties and live music and DJ's.

As the venue is multi functional we do our best to configure the Lounge to your specific needs.

We are a continental Restaurant. It was founded in the late 60-ies mainly as a German-Austrian-Swiss Restaurant. Over the years it got influences from all over Europe. Today there's Hungarian Goulash on the menu as well as Dutch Beef Croquettes, Greek Salads, Russian smoked Trout Salad, Italian Fettuccine, etc.

Behind Foundry616 is Peter Rechniewski, former Artistic Director and co-founder of the Sydney Improvised Music Association (SIMA), a passionate jazz aficionado dedicated to keeping Australian jazz centre stage and jazz generally on the arts radar.
