Tone is Sydney’s newest small bar, performance space and restaurant located in one of the oldest warehouse spaces in Surry Hills. Designed to cater for discerning music lovers, artists and party people, Tone has been restored to the original 1920s aesthetic with a contemporary twist through street art laden walls, state of the art lighting design and a truly world class P.A. system.

Our mission is simple – to provide a rich experience in a quality environment with great food and drinks at reasonable prices. We love music. We love art. We love food. We love a good drink.

The Gaelic has played host to dance parties, product launches, fashion shows, burlesque and cabaret events, theatre, comedy, corporate functions and other private parties. And of course, the cream of International and Australian touring bands continue to grace the Gaelic’s stage.

Hello, good times! You can say many things about the legendary Clock Hotel, but, if you can’t have fun here, well then, you are hard to please. Let’s start with that wraparound balcony. While getting a seat here may require precision timing and an immense amount of luck, once you have experienced drinking from this vantage point on Crown Street, it’s a little hard to ever drink indoors again. The people watching is superb, especially while sipping on the Clock Hotel Martini, while the sun gently sets.

Do not despair if said balcony is full up. There are plenty of inviting areas at the Clock and the booths in the Street Bar are very obliging if there is a few of you. Even though it can get pretty rowdy in here of a Friday night, a surprisingly laidback feel is maintained. However, come midweek if it’s a quiet drink you’re in need of. Better still, sojourn to the Pool Bar to shoot some stick and keep an eye on the game. The Pool Bar has several plasma screens to keep the sports mad well contented.

The Clock is a big renovated pub that caters to a mixed clientele, who range from business men in suits to more casual types who want to leave the working week as far behind as possible. It’s kind of hip at times, without being too painful, and you don’t have to be under 30 to feel at home here.

We are thrilled to continue to work and grow with fellow music organisation Jazzgroove, now in its 14th year, it’s Tuesday program at 505 is committed to presenting quality music to an increasingly enthusiastic audience.

PLAY BAR SYDNEY is housed in the old “Chess Discount Store”, which tale be told in the 1930’s was also an old Chinese opium den (though fortunately you no longer need your pipes and lamps).

Upon locating the 4 moons, you enter through a beautiful, large black timber door and are led down an unassuming stair into the one of the best kept secrets in Sydney.

The decor looks decidedly like it once belonged in old factories, with old iron crank tables and trestles. Decorated with skate decks & a fresh graf collab, courtesy Beastman & Numskull. The bar is warmly lit with cool old incandescent bulbs, wall washes & candles, that enhance the exposed raw brick & wooden rafters. A pair of 1200’s with a ghetto-blaster fold-back sit in the corner & an epic old skool hiphop montage in the amenities. PLAYBAR’s look shifts entirely from so many of the clean cut or prohibition style bars that exist now in the CBD, into a more old-flava, London underground style venue. We play James Brown, funk, broken-beat, hippity-hop, soul, reggae, drum n’ bass and proper house…. & we play it on records.
